Day 4
A Day in Indy

April 21, 2013 (day 4)
I had no plans beyond breakfast but, after verifying that the downtown war museums were open, I paid them a visit then met a friend who guided me to some sights along the canal. The ride home was uneventful.

As always, my Dixie Highway routing benefited from Robert Droz's US Highways and I also got some help from Jim Grey on this one. Big thanks to both. The current "score", with the new bit in yellow, is here.

April 20, 2013 (day 3)
I increased my driven portion of the Dixie Highway by nearly a hundred and fifty miles and survived the pre-wee hours of Indianapolis night life.

April 19, 2013 (day 2)
The day started with breakfast at the Loveless Cafe and ended with music at the Family Wash. A museum and two movies filled in the middle.

April 18, 2013 (day 1)
Gravy for breakfast, ice cream for lunch, pasta for dinner, and Nashville's Broadway for a soundtrack.

Prelude - April 10, 2013
NaFF is the Nashville Film Festival and FOLK is a film. At least it's a movie. Whether any actual film is involved I can't say and regardless of how it was made, it was selected for this year's NaFF and will have its premier showing there. FOLK documents the lives of three musicians including one, Dirk Hamilton, who I know slightly. I've been a fan of Dirk's since the 1970s and have mentioned him on this site a few times. The most recent mentions have been a review of his latest CD and trip to a 2011 concert. Dirk will be performing in Italy so will miss the premier but I'm looking forward to checking out the film and the festival.

I'm always on the look out for an opportunity to drive another bit of the Dixie Highway and this trip's schedule is loose enough to let me drive the section of the western mainline between Indianapolis, Indiana, and Louisville, Kentucky, as I return home. I'll be using expressways on a lot of this trip and this is the only part which focuses on the road. For that reason, it's all I've included in the locator map behind the button at the top of this page.
