Day 2
A Pair of River Towns
Day 3
An Autoweek Pick
|
Today's drive was mostly along one of the roads that Autoweek magazine
picked as one of the nation's best drives. It also happens to be a scenic
byway designated by the US Forest Service.
Point Pleasant, West Virginia, is a place with a lot of history and I tried to at least
get a glimpse of it. Then I headed north to spend the night in Marietta,
Ohio, the first permanent settlement in the Northwest Territory.
I didn't travel far on the first day of the holiday weekend but believe
me, it was a trip. I headed up the road just fifteen miles to
Blanchester where a guy was planning on jumping his motorcycle over the
world's largest horseshoe crab and through a wall of fire. Would you want
to leave if this was happening in your neighborhood? I'll try to cover
more ground on Sunday and Monday.
