The world has reopened and I was able to start the day at a pretty cool
diner. Then I found out that, not only had the world reopened but a large
portion of its population was storming a castle in Medina. I then went
home.
Christmas Day is often rather slack so that I get the journal posted
before the day ends. Visiting nine covered bridges and overeating at the
lodge buffet kept that from happening this year which takes a little
pizzazz from the holiday background and music selection but they're still
there.
I took the scenic but invisible route north to a very off-season resort
village. I suppose that sounds kind of negative but that's not how I'm
feeling at all. I'm next to a huge bunch of water at the northern edge of
Ohio in late December and there's no snow. Heck yeah, I'll take it.
Starting the day with Dino didn't go quite as planned but I did see a lot
of really cool nutcrackers.
Today was a travel day although I did reach Steubenville in time to see
some nutcrackers. The drive was bracketed by two great meals, one with my
daughter.
2016 had me staying inside Ohio and using the state's fairly new tourism
slogan as the basis for the title of my Christmas Escape Run. "Ohio, find
it here" was about a year old and not overly popular when I first borrowed
it. It hasn't grown much in popularity but it still seems a reasonable fit
for an all Ohio outing. My Christmas dinner will be from a buffet at
Geneva-on-the-Lake State Park where I'll spend s couple of nights. Some
Christmasy things will be included in both the going and the coming.
