When I pulled up directions to the place I had picked for breakfast, I learned that it was closed for the day. I somewhat hastily picked a replacement and it turned out to be a dandy. Named after the owner's five year old daughter, Josie's opened in 2010 and almost immediately began collecting awards. I sensed I had made a good choice when I pulled in just minutes after it opened to see groups of customer walking toward the door. I bet you agree that the omelet looks too good to hide behind a text link.

The meeting that got postponed yesterday was with Jay Webb at Clay's Ferry Overlook. Jay and his wife bought the overlook a few years ago and have devoted a lot of time and energy to removing tons of brush and debris from the site and turning it back into a real overlook. The first picture is of the overlook from across the Kentucky River and I had to grab one of the 1871 steel bridge as I crossed it.

Jay showed me around the property while sharing bits of local history including a period when a drug cartel operated in the little house there. I have taken pictures of the old Dixie Highway here in the past but today I was able to stand in the middle of the old road while doing it. The last photo is of what is probably a retaining wall for the road that became the original Dixie Highway alignment. It is east of the house and I didn't even know it was there before today.

Then it was off the the historic Brown Hotel in Louisville where I checked into this room for a two night stay. Here's the view I used for the daily social media post.

After checking in, I took a short walk up 4th Street past the marquee for the long gone Ohio Theater (1941-1965) to the still very much functioning Palace Theater.

Back at the hotel, I went topside to check out the fabulous views and hope for a glimpse of the setting sun. No luck on the sun tonight but I definitely get the idea and I got to play a round of "Where's Ali?"

The Brown Hotel is filled with reminders that the Hot Brown was invented here. There's even one on the desk in my room which you can read here. So I naturally had to have one for dinner. That's actually a Petite Hot Brown. Got bigger if you want it.
