April 29, 2024 (day 10)
Five miles of the Natchez Trace and a pile of Loveless biscuits began the
trip's last day.
April 28, 2024 (day 9)
I snapped some pics in Clarksdale, looked up at the big guy on the border,
and looked over a couple of murals on the Broadway of America.
April 27, 2024 (day 8)
After attending a couple more sign dedications, I headed north and made it
as far as Clarksdale, Mississippi.
April 26, 2024 (day 7)
We had three great presentations in the morning, two interesting trolley
tours in the afternoon, then music and food to finish the day.
April 25, 2024 (day 6)
No driving for me today. It was a bus ride on the Northup Trail with lunch
at a mini-festival in Bunkie.
April 24, 2024 (day 5)
Before lunch outside of town, we visited an old store and new park in
Natchitoches. Then it was dessert in Colfax after revisiting a restored
hotel. The caravan ended and the conference started in Alexandria.
April 23, 2024 (day 4)
The day started with a tour of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium and a
visit with guitar legend James Burton. Then it was off to a series of
stops at historic sites along the Jefferson Highway.
April 22, 2024 (day 3)
I made it to the start of the Sociability Run which led to a walking tour
of downtown Shreveport which was followed by me forgetting everything I
was told.
April 21, 2024 (day 2)
I visited some familiar places without, unlike the last time, any weather
worries.
April 20, 2024 (day 1)
There is a pre-conference sociability run but it is starting in Louisiana
rather than Texas. Because it isn't covering much distance, I initially
decided to skip it but changed my mind at the last minute. I'm on my way
to Shreveport using expressways.
Prelude - January 1, 2024
I would probably be attending the 2024 Jefferson Highway Association no
matter the host hotel but the chance to stay in the beautiful Hotel
Bentley in Alexandria, LA, definitely seals the deal. The conference will
run April 24-27 and it appears likely that it will be preceded by a
sociability run with a start point somewhere in Texas.
