When I realized my Thursday night stop was just a little west of Allentown, I sent an email to Dave Reese to see if a brief meeting might be possible. It was and Dave picked a spot just barely off of US-22. The Parkland Restaurant is now a very comfortable diner style place. Dave remembers when it was a steak house fronting a miniature golf course for a full date night experience. When I took the picture of Dave by the sign, he wondered aloud if I couldn't handle those arm length self-shots like everybody else. "I don't know," I said. Which led to me saying "Is this thing working?" |
I remember passing this genuine Stewart's Root Beer stand when I drove US-22 last year but failed to stop. I corrected that today and the root beer was great although I was disappointed in the total absence of frosty mugs. |
Although there was some decent looking country beyond the Stewart's, things generally became increasingly congested. It reached something of a peak at the other end of the Pulaski Skyway. I did this again after picking John up at the Newark airport. Twice is enough for one day. |
It was a full house for the kick-off gathering where East Tour Guide, Jim Peters, gave out some updates, corrections, and encouragement. |
