"There is a Sunrise and a Sunset every single day, and they are absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them." -- Jo Walton

I don't follow that advice nearly enough and miss far too many. I quite enjoyed this sunrise on the road between Delta, Utah, and Ely, Nevada.

US-6 had merged with US-50 in Delta and it was time to follow both of them west.

As I pulled even with and passed a large field of wind turbines, I could see that they weren't nearly as randomly placed as it first appeared.

Yesterday I checked out some charcoal furnaces by pulling to the side of the road and walking a few feet. Today I'm driving six miles of open range gravel road and walking maybe a hundred yards to do the same thing.

In Ely, my first stop was for breakfast at Nardi's. The sign and the GPS still call it Silver State despite an owner and name change occurring nearly a year ago. Following breakfast, I popped into the Hotel Nevada for one beer. Then I decided to drive by a place I'd patronized on a previous visit and I asked Google Maps for help. I often use voice search when I'm driving and two of my frequent requests are "breakfast" and "brewery". Today I tried another "br..." word, "brothel". Google had no trouble recognizing the word but the search came up empty. I've successfully searched for much worse so can't believe the failure had anything to do with censuring. Maybe it's the way the business identifies itself. Business, by the way, must be reasonably good since the Big Four, where I once had a beer, now has some cross street competition.

Next I was off to Tonopah for a night at the world famous Clown Motel. The experience was underwhelming, but one I'm happy to check off the list. The Clown Motel is essentially a somewhat rundown motel that has been converted to a somewhat tacky somewhat rundown motel. But they do have clowns. Lots of clowns. And not just any clowns; These are priceless. Look here to see what's behind door number 110.

Dinner was at Tonopah Brewing.
