I bid farewell to Fletcher the Elder when we left the station last night.
He would be sound asleep when I picked up his sons for a Balboa Park
outing. There are seventeen museums in the park and we considered
several before picking the
San Diego Automotive Museum for our starter. Among the
cars catching our eyes were a gorgeous 1936
DeSoto Airflow, a very rare 1975 rotary
powered motorcycle, and a rather bizarre 1947
Cadillac. Made to be driven non-stop, it was equipped with
hydraulically controlled rollers to permit
on-the-go tire changes. One on its many accomplishments is a non-stop
drive from Anchorage to Mexico City. A couple of original placards are
here and here.

Fletcher and Noah briefly at rest.

Next up was the
Model Railroad Museum where several local clubs have
huge layouts operating and more are in the works.

We wrapped up our museum tour at the
Museum of Photographic Arts. While I rested for the
walk back to the car, the boys studied an interactive exhibit that creates
an image of what the camera at lower left is seeing from tiny images of
what it has seen before.

Fletcher the Younger, an excellent driver, then drove us home where Kayla
and I took turns taking each other's picture while the boys served as
props.
