Day 1
Getting There

Beauty and the Beast
Day 3
A Tour to the West
Day 4
The Final Day

The conference wrapped up with a meeting, several presentations, and a
banquet. I behaved at the meeting, paid close attention to the
presentations, and got caught completely off guard at the banquet.
Today's tour started with another theater then we were off to a farm, a
winery, a museum, a soda fountain, and an interpretive center. And we
still had time to go look at race cars.
On the conference's first bus tour we made it to the two most famous
buildings in Joliet and they certainly could not be more different from
each other.
It was mostly expressway but I did get in a few miles of Lincoln Highway
and a dollop of Dixie Highway while being fueled by pork tenderloin and
pecans.
After a two year COVID triggered hiatus, the Lincoln Highway Association's
annual conference is back. Complete with bus tours, presentations, and an
awards banquet, it is scheduled for June 20-24 in Joliet, Illinois. The
Dixie Highway and Historic Route 66 both pass nearby and pre-conference
activities involving them are planned. Because of prior commitments, I
won't make the pre-conference stuff and may have to scurry to make the
conference but I'll be there. Gotta cure that historic road conference
withdrawal.
