Late Thursday night, Cincinnati Reds announcer Joe Nuxhall passed away. Baseball was his life; pitching sixteen years before becoming an announcer. I don't really remember Joe as a player but I'll never forget his voice bringing a Reds game to life through some radio speaker. This isn't a tribute or a retrospective. Others, notably the Cincinnati press and the Reds, have done a wonderful job of that. These are just some pictures I've taken. Most were shot last night, when the Great American Ball Park was almost dark except for Joe's statue, the broadcast booth, and Joe's signature sign off, now in neon, on the park's north wall. Two were taken way back on September 18, 2004 at a tribute for the retiring "Old Left Hander". Sparky Anderson and Johnny Bench, identifiable in the last photo, were among the many notables in attendance. The baseball card image is "borrowed".
