Day 6
That's a Wrap

October 30, 2018 (day 6)
Today was all about getting home although I did make stops at James Dean's start and end points.

October 29, 2018 (day 5)
After not having a BPT at Nick's Kitchen and going on a wild outhouse chase, I made it to the concert around which this whole trip was organized.

October 28, 2018 (day 4)
I took a day off from rock and roll and simply rolled along the Lincoln Highway in the rain.

October 27, 2018 (day 3)
Going from a forked tree to a twentieth century manor house to freshly roasted nuts to baked pasta isn't the only way to get to rock and roll Tubes style, but it's one that's known to work.

October 26, 2018 (day 2)
A big dose of music to start, a dash of science in the middle, and a multi-brewery stroll at the end. It was a very good day.

October 25, 2018 (day 1)
I had to get a little creative and detour two miles to get a little rock and and roll in the day's diagonal dash across Ohio. It gets real tomorrow.

Prelude - September 14, 2018
It's a three ring rock 'n' roll circus that came together one ring at a time. The ring I'll reach last was the first one planned. I've long wanted to see Little Steven's "Soulfire" tour and had come close to committing to a show on a couple of occasions. This time, as Steve might say, it's for real. A November date in Columbus, Ohio, first caught my eye but it lost out to an earlier show in Wabash, Indiana. The Columbus venue is closer but the show is entirely general admission. For the same price, I scored a front row balcony seat in a historic theater in Wabash.

About a week later, I learned that the Tubes, with one of my favorite drummers, were doing a couple of increasingly rare show not too far away. The one in Akron, Ohio, is scheduled just two days prior to the Little Steven Wabash concert. I snagged a ticket for that, too.

The third piece may seem like a no brainer but I was actually rather reluctant to add it. Visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has been on my mind for much of the summer. I originally planned to head there after my Fourth of July in Columbus. But driving to Columbus partially on US-42 reminded me of my first visit to the Hall of Fame which utilized back roads all the way there and back, and I decided to save my next visit for a duplicate trip. I even had such a trip planned for late August but other requirements killed it. So part of me wanted to reserve a Hall of Fame visit for the unscheduled duplicate trip but part of me saw some wisdom in taking advantage of being just thirty miles away.

That part won, so I'm tentatively planning on spending October 26 at the Hall of Fame, rocking with the Tubes on the 27th, then rolling over to Indiana for a Little Steven blowout on the 29th.
