My first taste of an official SCA activity was Wednesday evening's
welcome gathering at Washington Platform in downtown Cincinnati. I was new
to the group but this was my home city so I was a little bit welcomer and
a little bit welcomee.

Drinks and a tasty buffet were welcomed by everyone. Current SCA president
Michael Hirsch and past president Nancy Sturm shared some conference
information followed by a hello from Washington Platform chef and
part-owner Jon Diebold.

The evening ended with a talk and tour with Cincinnati author, historian,
and beer expert Michael Morgan. The tour was more or less vertical into
the nearby lagering cellars of the long gone Schaller & Gerke Brewery. The
cellars are roughly forty feet below ground.
