And just like yesterday, this day began with meeting a friend for breakfast. This time it was Cort Stevens in Elgin, Illinois. |

From Elgin, it was essentially a non-stop run to the Dells but I did see a train, a fairgrounds, and some semi-open road. |

It's OK if what blocks your view of the river is trees. |
|
Things got started a little before 6:00 when we gathered for a river cruise. We reached oure ride after descending a few steps. |
|
The cruise itself was great and included an onboard dinner buffet. But we also docked twice for on shore excursions. The first was at the very narrow Witches Gulch. According to the signs, most features along the way were owned or used by witches. Presumedly the stand at the end of the trail serves Witches Nachos although they weren't identified as such. |

Not being familiar with the history of Stand Rock, I almost skipped the walk to it. This is where one of H. H. Bennett's most famous photographs was taken. In 1886, Bennett utilized an early shutter of his design to capture his son in mid-air in a leap to Stand Rock. |

Our outing was identified as a Sunset Dinner Cruise so... |
