Day 6: November 9, 2020 Georgia Wrap Comment via blog Check Granny's letters of the day

Less than half a dozen miles south of Forsyth I moved on to an old alignment currently signed Old Macon Road that included a good example of pavement following rails.

I didn't go through the center of Macon, but neither did I miss it completely as Granny said they did. Maybe it's just grown or maybe my route guessing was amiss.

I believe The National Highway is the only road Granny identifies by name in her letters. This isn't exactly the same place we first discovered it in 2001, but it's close. Despite having nineteen years to research it, I have learned very little about it. There is some information about a New York to Atlanta called National Highway but nothing beyond that. This is over a hundred miles south of Atlanta.

I had seen quite a few of these Trail 41 signs and finally captured one a little south of Tifton. Got a little bit of railroad track, too. It's one of several Georgia Grown Trails. Less than fifty miles later, I was in Florida.
