I don't recall ever exiting a roundabout directly to the Dixie Highway, but it seemed to work.

In fact, it wasn't long before I was on one of my favorite sections of the Dixie just north of Ormond Beach. Everybody likes canopied roads and the quiet ones are best.

I encountered some unpaved Dixie Highway a little south of Oak Hill, but it was dry and neither as long nor as exciting as the stretch I drove yesterday.

In Melbourne, bad and good luck struck simultaneously. I was at a dead stop in heavy traffic. I was in the right lane, and it seemed highly unlikely that I would be able to make an upcoming left turn. But there was a brewery on my right with open off-street parking. Problem solved. Even though it was slightly ahead of the time I intended to end the day, I made arrangements for the night while sitting at a table in Intracoastal Brewing Company's courtyard and went to roost just a few miles farther on.
