Trip Home

When I initially thought of this trip, I envisioned some slack time in Chattanooga and maybe even an overnight in Knoxville or Nashville. But other plans developed and now I absolutely have to be home by Tuesday and it would be best if I reached home Sunday night. So I hit the road a little before sun up with one more stop to make. The view from this Sequatchie Valley overlook is a little more scenic in daylight but today it functioned as both an over and underlook with the two-day-past-full moon still high in the sky.

I learned of this flying saucer house since my last time in the area, and back when the schedule was looser I sort of planned to seek it out. I ditched those thoughts when the scheduled tightened up but found it anyway. I guess I didn't even notice it when traveling north but it can't be missed southbound.

US-127 ends at US-27 and here we are.

Even thought the sun was well up by the time I reached Aretha Frankenstein's, it didn't seem very bright. But I was made to feel welcome, greeted the ghost skateboarder in the sky ceiling, and enjoyed another Waffle of Insane Greatness.

I'd chosen my early starting time not only because of my need to get home but to beat the Sunday morning crowd at Aretha's. It worked. I arrived a few minutes after opening and when I left a line was just starting to form on the porch. It was one of those "party's over" moments when the GPS is switched to Fastest Route and the Home button tapped.
