I got an early start and actually crossed the river so I could enter Ohio on US-42 but it was too dark to get a usable picture at the state line. I'm not sure this is the first US-42 sign inside the state but I'm sure it's the first one I could see clearly enough to photograph.

Sugar n' Spice opened just fifteen years after the road out front changed from Dixie Highway to US-42. Today I had some of their trademark wispy thin pancakes then took some outside phots before continuing on. The porker with the stack of pancakes is one of the more elaborate things to come ou of the Big Pig Gig of several years ago.

In Lebanon, I pulled a block off of US-42 to reproduce a picture from the 2001 trip. The only difference is the car is green instead of red and has four less cylinders, one less forward gear, and one less smiling passenger.

On the day after Labor Day, it seemed appropriate to pass through the town its daddy called home. Ohio's current governor calls the town home today. Next is a bypassed stretch of old US-42 about four miles north of Cedarville and a currently empty repurposed gas station in South Charleston. Madison county's courthouse is in London and the obelisk commemorating World War I is in Mount Gilead. The stone arch at the south edge of Lodi was built in 1907 to carry the B & O Railroad.

The day's destination was Medina where one of the town's breweries was open when I arrived. The first beer I tried at Planted Flag Brewing was darker, a little better, and half gone before I even thought about a picture.

Medina Brewing Company opened a little later and I stopped in after checking into my motel. The brewery is in a basement with no outside seating which I've become very partial to these days. Of the two half-pints I did, I surprised myself by liking the American pale ale best -- after I got rid of the silly pineapple.
