Today is presentation day but first we eat.

Then we hold an association meeting. Indiana LHA President started things off followed by National LHA President Kay Shelton Kozak. We then heard from Treasurer Jeff Lotze and Vice President David Allen.

The first actual presentation, "Marking an Ancient Route in Northern Indiana", came from Dr. Luke Gascho who described his involvement in placing signage on the Potawatomi-Miami (Bodewadmi and Myaamia) Trail. Then historian Daniel Hershberger presented "Hitting the Road: Motor Camping along the Lincoln Highway".

Today's activities were taking place in the Crystal Ballroom of the Lerner Theater less than a block from the hotel. As part of the lunch break, we were able to tour the main theater space. The Kimball pipe organ was playing (My memory says The Impossible Dream but I don't trust it.) when we entered and the fantastic sound focused all of my attention on the white console on the stage. Only when the music stopped was I able to appreciate the theater's other beautiful features. The theater opened as the Lerner in 1924, went through a couple of owner and name changes, with the Lerner name returning with the 2011 $27 million restoration. There is an exterior picture I took with my phone on Monday on the way back to the hotel here.

In the afternoon, we were treated to a pre-release showing of the documentary based on Michael Owen's 2019 book After Ike (which I reviewed here). After Ike, the documentary, combines footage of the 1919 cross country military convoy, that Dwight Eisenhower was part of, with modern video and interviews with Lincoln Highway and other experts many of which were in the room. After the showing, Owen and Producer Dr. Gregory Maassen answered questions and solicited feedback. This excellent documentary is targeted for release in early 2025.

Dr. Maassen's interests and activities go well beyond documentary film making and he also gave us a presentation on his cross-country E-bike Tour. Andy McCaskey finished out the day with information about what3words which is described as "The simplest way to talk about location".
