I headed south on Saturday morning to ride a train, stay in some old motels, and look at some roadside attractions. Same as it ever was.

The closest I got was over 130 miles. So many railroads. So little time.
Oh, well; perhaps next time! I’m hoping the re-opening of Ghost Town in Maggie Valley takes effect someday too.
Giraffe stone at the Phillips Motel. Neat. I thought that was only in the Ozarks.
It seems a lot more common in Missouri than other places and that’s the state I always associate it with.
I had a great time at that WigWam, especially the camp fire way back when. But sure wasn’t happy to learn we were in a “DRY” county. Thankfully, you had more than enough so could share.
The value of coming prepared I reckon.

Restoring this place is clearly a major project but it is well on the way. The county isn’t nearly as dry as it once was; Mammoth Liquors is less than two miles from the Wigwams.
