Although it won’t be particularly intense or precise, I’ve just begun what will be my fourth end-to-end run of Historic Route 66. Once I decided to attend the Los Angeles International Route 66 Festival at one end of the highway, the decision to start the drive at the other was an easy one. Along the way I’ll take part in the DAV 5K which is something I will also be doing for the fourth time although the first three were in Cincinnati and this one will be in Tulsa. I invite folks to “sponsor” me with a contribution here. The picture is of my friend Dave and me finishing the inaugural event in 2013. Before heading home, I’ll visit my son in San Diego and take in a concert.
The journal for the trip is here. This entry is to let blog subscribers know of the trip and to provide a place for comments.
Chicago Art Museum lions wearing Cubs hats: plenty of photos on the web (none as good as the ones you lost, of course).
Yep, normally I’d take the position that the ones that got away were the best ever but in this case I think it’s at least possible that there are pictures better than my crack-of-dawn pause-at-the-curb poke-a-camera-out-the-window images.
Re – Anthem Brewing. When we were in Muskogee forthe JHA Conference all the beer in town was 2%! Must not be a state rule.
Yes. That certainly wasn’t the case in the brewery in OKC or restaurants in Tulsa.
The very name Giganticus Headicus made me swallow wrong as I drank my Sunday morning beverage. After I was done choking I found a Route 66 news containing a dandy photo of G.H. whose artist may lately have mellowed his earlier strict no-photos policy. I would love to see any photo you have of it.
In this Route 66 News article, which may be the one you saw, Ron concludes by saying that photo restrictions “..went by the wayside years ago.” A photo I took in 2012 is here
