This picture is from my 2022 Fallingwater and… trip. It started with half-formed plans for 2019 that became fully formed plans for 2020 when they didn’t work out. Those 2020 plans were for early April, and I bet you can guess what happened to them. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater was just one of many places closed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it remained closed until March 2022. I dug out the old plans and scheduled a visit in August. I believe the “and…” was originally put in the title because I was also visiting Wright’s nearby Kentuck Knob. But those visits were on the trip’s fourth day, and there were plenty of “and…” things in the three days preceding. My route to Fallingwater was along US-22, the Lincoln Highway, and the National Road, with stops at  Alan Cottrill’s studio in Zanesville, the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, the Lincoln Motor Court in Bedford, the La Vale and Addison toll houses, and several other points of interest. The route home was basically the National Road with an overnight at the Century Inn originally planned for my birthday in 2020.
